Name: Tyler Underhill Grade: Senior Ht./Wt. 6'1"/190 lbs Position(s): WR/DB Last Season’s Record: 5-4
Most athletes can remember some moment about their last game. Thinking back to you last game last season, who was it against and tell me a memory or play you think about from it. Well we were playing Riverton and the game was very wet and very muddy. The thing I remember was just trying to run and tackle in the sloppy weather.
Did you and/or your teams attend any camps or participate in any leagues this summer? Which ones? Yes, most of our team goes to separate camps. I know our linemen go to the Pitt State and MSSU camps. We also as a team go to 7-on-7 league in Galena.
Around how many players do you have out this year? We have around 40 players this year.
All players have certain drills they hate. Tell me about the drill you dislike doing the most. I really don't have a drill that i dislike. They're all very demanding and they get us ready for Friday nights!
I know all games are important, but what is that one game you have circled on the schedule and why? Riverton, because they're our rival and it's the first game of the season.
What do you think about the move from 3A to 4A? We really haven't thought about moving up in class because right now we're just concentrating about one game at a time.
Give me the feel for what your team will be known for this season. I think this year we will be known for our speed. We have the potential to be a very explosive team this year.
What do you feel like is the strength of your team? Speed is for sure our strength with the heart to match.
What do you feel like the team really needs to work early on and improve on? Work on perfecting the little things.
Just for fun, describe Coach Hartley in one word. Dedicated. |

Cross country requires year round training. What regimen do you participate in staying in shape during the off season? I play Basketball and Baseball. I bike, lift weights, and swim a lot also.
What is your favorite course for meets and why? Ft. Scott because my mom is the Ft. Scott Cross Country and Track coach so it makes it a lot more fun and KU because its an amazing and extremely difficult course.
What courses are the toughest for you? Easiest? I don't feel that any courses i run on are easy with the kind of competition I have to face in each of them. My competition always makes them out to be great courses and I have to run my best in each of them.
Aside from winning state, what are your goals for the upcoming season? Run my best in every race. Win League Cross Country as a TEAM.
As a participant, which do you like better, track or cross country? Both. I Love to Run. |

Name: Collin Kile Grade: Junior Ht./Wt.: 6'0"/180 lb. Position: QB Last Season’s Record: 8-2
What was your team's summer schedule as far as weights/conditioning? We did agilities and weights Monday through Thursday from the beginning of June to the end of July.
Did you and/or your teams attend any camps or participate in any leagues? Which ones? It wasn't considered a league, but we played Burlington High School in 7 on 7 and Waverly High School in 5 on 5.
What has been your practice schedule so far? We had two-a-days all last week.
Around how many players do you have out this year? We have about 34 players out.
I know all games are important, but what is that one game you have circled on the schedule and why? Well, we try to concentrate on our first game. So, as of right now, the Yates Center game is the most important.
Give me the feel for what your team will be known for this season. Madison has always been known for our hard-nosed defense and I think we will continue that this year. I also think we are going to have some weapons on offense.
What do you feel like is the strength of your team? I think we are a pretty tight knit group of guys, so team work is definitely going to be one of our strengths this year.
What do you feel like the team really needs to work early on and improve on? Just focusing on getting better everyday.

Name: Zach Travis Grade: Junior Ht./Wt. 6'1/172 Position(s): QB/S Last Season’s Record: 4-6
What was your team's summer schedule as far as weights/conditioning? 6:30 in the morning, Monday through Thursday.
Did you and/or your teams attend any camps or participate in any leagues? Which ones? Just our team camp, none besides that.
What has been your practice schedule so far? Last week was 8 to 10 in the morning. This week is 6 to 8 at night.
Around how many players do you have out this year? 29 players this season.
I know all games are important, but what is that one game you have circled on the schedule and why? Northeast-Arma and Oswego because these are the teams in our league. It would be great to beat them and return to being league champs.
Give me the feel for what your team will be known for this season. Working hard and not giving up.
What do you feel like is the strength of your team? Team chemistry. We have a good group of guys that are always encouraging each other and having a good time.

Cross country requires year round training. What regimen do you participate in staying in shape during the off season? I do some running during the winter sports, and this year I am taking a weights class.
What is your favorite course for meets and why? My favorite course was our home meet (Baxter Springs High School) because we get to practice the course and I know it very well, it is also a fairly flat course.
What courses are the toughest for you? Easiest? The toughest course I have ran on would have to be the Wamego State course. It has a TON of hills and the easiest would have to have been Regionals at Burlington or the Baxter Course.
Aside from winning state, what are your goals for the upcoming season? To have my times down to under 16:00 minutes (4K) and to, of course do better in state than last year.
As a participant, which do you like better, track or cross country? Its probably a split, I like that cross country challenges me a little more, and your never running the same thing over and over like in track, but track is still a lot of fun and I also did better at state in track. |
