"One on One" with West Elk Sr., CJ Madison
FootballYou have a very good shot at becoming only the second Kansas 2A Quarterback to pass for 5000 yards in a career. Is this a milestone that ranks at the top of your accomplishments?

No, I would have to say winning a district championship for the first time since 1988 would be at the top of my accomplishments. If I do hit this mark, hopefully it will have helped West Elk win its first ever Playoff game.

Describe your style of play. Are you more of a dual threat QB or Pro-Style QB?

I would have to say I have turned into a more of a dual threat. West Elk isn't the biggest team in the world but we have really good athletes and Coach Haag adjusts to each team. One game I could run 20 times or I could throw 20 times. It just depends on what Coach wants.

I plan on attending the Sept 12th game at Uniontown. It will be my first time watching West Elk play. What kind of offense can I expect to see?

It will just depend on what the defense is giving us. We take what we get and make the most of it.

How do you see your league taking shape as far as who should be the stronger opponents this season?

Actually, we are not playing in any league this year so we are traveling around to play the best teams as we can. West Elk is playing alot of teams that they haven't ever played before so we will see what happens.

I am going to go out on a limb and predict the October 24th game with Humboldt will determine who wins the district. How do you see West Elk matching up with the Cubs this year?

I personaly think it will come down to who wants to win more. The coachs get us ready then we have to take care of busniess.

I know you are getting looks from several D1 schools. Are there any schools that you are leaning towards yet? Are there any DII schools that have a hold on you or are you even considering that route?

As of right now, I haven't received any offers.

Pleasanton has a special visitor at practice
Basketball

At tonight's practice, the 7th grade girls got a special visit from Local Legend Tonya Baucom. Tonya spoke to the girls on various things and taught them some new drills. The girls were extremely excited! For those who aren't familiar with Tonya, she was a Pleasanton grad who ended her high school career with 1980 points, led Pleasanton to two 3rd place finishes at State in 86 and 89, had her number retired at PHS (the only athlete ever), was inducted into Missouri State University Hall of Fame, helped lead Southwest Missouri State to the NCAA Final Four, and the most dedicated athlete I have ever had the pleasure of watching.
