Thank you to the coaches who provided stats and quotes to us. A recap from Friday’s Tri-Valley League basketball action:
GIRLS
Caney Valley def. Neodesha 46-44
Leon-Bluestem def. Cherryvale 61-50
- ”We were down 17 and got with in 5 with 2 minutes to go, but our turnovers were just to much to overcome. We knew that they would play passing lanes and use that to get run outs, and we gave them too many easyopportunities” Cherryvale Head Coach David Smedley
BOYS
Caney Valley def. Neodesha 72-49
Cherryvale def. Leon-Bluestem 45-29
- “Man, we played a sloppy, ugly, flat 1st half in Leon tonight. We made a few minor adjustments at the half, but really it was all about effort. We played harder than them the 2nd half, I think we held them to six points total in the half. We try to constantly preach defensive pressure and aggressiveness, and they followed through in the latter stages of tonight’s contest.” Cherryvale Head Coach Aaron Rehmert
- Erie
Matt Vail 7
Ashton Clevenger 25
Garrett McGuire 5
Jaden Gard 10
Tyler Pasquarelli 11
Jordan Myers 2 - Humboldt
T. Johnson 5
H. Murrow 13
C. Gillispie 4
C. Haviland 13
L. Daniels 3
W. Seufert 10
T. Hurst 8 - “I am pleased with the way we grinded it out tonight against a tough Humboldt team. It was not our best defensive effort, but we were able to put together a very nice defensive stretch to finish the game. Offensively we started hot, cooled off a bit and then I thought attacked the basket hard in the second half. We really put pressure on them to guard and finished some plays we needed to make.” Erie Head Coach Nick Pfeifer
