First coaches polls, now preseason rankings.

You know we are edging closer to the start of the season when publishers and media outlets are releasing more and more preseason content.

The Coaches & Fan Preseason Football poll for our coverage area was released throughout this week, which we invite you to check out if you haven’t already.

Next week you’ll start to see more in-depth league and team previews from our contributors. released their preseason rankings for all 6 classifications of Kansas High School Football.

The coverage area had a representative from each of the classifications in which a team participates in.

In Class 4A the Pittsburg Purple Dragons were picked 7th to start the season, with Bishop Miege as the preseason favorite.

In Class 3A the Parsons Vikings, who are once again playing independent of the SEK League in football, were picked 10th.

In Class 2A Humboldt was awarded the 4th spot. The Cubs do lose a lot of upperclassmen experience. Their depth these past few years and experience, as well as work ethic in the offseason, should allow them to pick up right where they left off.

In Class 1A, a newcomer to the coverage area Olpe was slotted at the number 5 position while long-time football favorite St. Mary’s-Colgan was positioned 7th.

In Class 8M-I Oswego, under the 2nd year direction of Matt Fowler, caught the eyes of the publications. Newcomer to our site’s coverage area, Madison, nabbed the highest preseason ranking of any of the area teams with the 2 spot.

Lastly in Class 8M-II Saint Paul was named the 3rd best team heading into the 2019 season. Much similar to Humboldt, the Indians find themselves looking to keep the momentum from the past few seasons going despite losing a talented group of upperclassmen. Adam Albertini is a name any fan of area high school football should expect to hear often throughout the weeks.
