CHERRYVALE — Three meets and three first-place finishes for Independence High School senior Renee Trout, who captured the girls’ individual championship in the Parsons Invitational on Thursday with a time of 23:50.29 at Big Hill Lake. She was more than two minutes ahead of her closest competitor, Rayna Jasper of Anderson County, who took second place in 25:53.92.

Trout had previously claimed first place in both the Labette County and Girard meets.

Anderson County captured the girls’ team title with 31 points, just ahead of runner-up Iola at 50 and Independence in third with 79.

On the boys’ side, Jack Adams took home first place in the varsity competition with a time of 20:01.61 — more than 11 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Larson Hoggatt of Coffeyville-Field Kindley at 20:12.83.

Adams helped lead Iola to the boys’ team championship, finishing the meet with 47 points. The Mustangs won a tiebreaker over Anderson County, which finished as the runner-up in the final standings with an identical score of 47. Coffeyville took third place with 88.
