CHERRYVALE – The CNC Baxter Springs Lady Lions Volleyball squad swept the Tri-Valley’s Cherryvale and Humboldt Lady Cubs on Tuesday night at the Lady Chargers Triangular.

Baxter Springs defeated host Cherryvale 2-0, 25-20, 25-12 and forced a 3rd set to win over Humboldt 21-25, 25-23, 25-21.

For Humboldt in their loss to Baxter Springs, they struggled to get much of a rythem going after the first set. Kirstyn Murrow recorded a team leading 4 aces in the loss. The team was plagued by 4 errors in serving. Jessica Myers led the effort with 9 kills followed by Jailynn Gofourth’s 5. Murrow also chipped in with 14 assists in the 3 set loss.

“In each set we had a moment we lost focus and let each team go on a run. That really hurt us in the Baxter game,” said Humboldt head coach Terry Meadows.

The Humboldt Lady Cubs defeated Cherryvale 2-0 in their match up, 25-14 and 25-21.

Myers recorded 5 aces in the win, but the team committed 9 errors. A returning Jada Dangerfield had 10 kills back in action for the Lady Cubs, along with Myers 7. Dangerfield, Myers, Murrow and Veronica Bulk all recorded 1 block each in the win.

“Having Jada back was nice. I thought we played great most of the night. Now we have to get used to the new system,” said Meadows.
