2019 Recap
The 2019 season was a year of growth for us. We started in the summer laying the foundation and redefining what it means to be a Bluestem Lion. We then carried that into the season. Week in and week out growing and improving on our core values, skills and fundamentals.

2020 Outlook
I think our biggest strengths going to into this season will be consistency on both side of the ball. This is the first time in probably 3 years that we won’t be trying to teach a completely new offense to our boys. Which will help do less thinking about our responsibilities and allow us play faster, more disciplined football. Also our work ethic will be a strength for us. Last year we implemented a maximum effort policy. We established that in order for us to be successful not only on the field but in the classroom and in life we have to give maximum effort in everything we do. “Do everything with a purpose.” “When we step on the field our goal is to out work everybody.” and I think last year we stepped up and took ownership of that blue- collar work mentality. We never quit in any of our games which was a major improvement from years past. We will continue that same Maximum Effort policy. We have also had the highest overall weights attendance this summer than we have in my entire 5- year duration of coaching at Bluestem. That will definitely help us be competitive when playing those teams that already have well established winning cultures and offseason training. We will need to improve on our tackling fundamentals. After breaking down all of our season film we found that the majority of the yards gained on us were off of broken tackles. We on numerous occasions had athletes in the right spot but we struggled to bring opposing teams down at the first point of contact. I think with a combination of our commitment to the weight room this summer and an extreme emphasis on tackling this year we will get that problem fixed.
