BURLINGTON – The Burlington Wildcats got back on the winning track with a Pioneer League win over the Wellsville Eagles 8-6 in Burlington Friday night.

Wellsville struck first with a 57 yard run at the 7:57 mark in the first quarter. Wildcats stuffed the two-point conversion attempt and trailed 6-0 at the end of one-quarter of play. Forcing Wellsville to punt deep in their own territory from the 10-yard line, the Wildcats capitalized on a shot punt which bounced back toward the line of scrimmage resulting in a net 3-yard punt. Gavin Price got the call on an 11-yard end sweep to put the Cats on the board and take the lead with a successful two-point conversion. Several turnovers by both teams in the second half thwarted drives to keep the score close.

Anthony Signs lead the Eagles with 148 yards on 16 carries.

Burlington goes on the road to begin district play as they match up with Girard next Friday.
