The Burlington Wildcats hosted the Iola Mustangs on Senior Night and left a lasting memory for the eight BHS Seniors with a 20-6 win for the Cats.
After a long opening drive downfield, the Wildcats turn over the ball on a fumble on the 14 yard line. On the first play from scrimmage, Issac Badders sweeps around the right end for an 86 yard TD run in to give the Mustangs the 6-0 lead when they fail to convert the EP.
Burlington took advantage of a Mustang fumble on the 27-yard line and get their first score of the night at the 1:15 mark in the second quarter on a 47-yard pass from Brady Rand to Gavin Price with Iola stopping the two-point conversion. A quick stop by Burlington gives the Cats the ball back and with two Mustang penalties in the final 40 seconds, the Cats advance to 4th and goal from the 2-yard line but fumbled the snap and go to the locker room tied 6-6 at the half.
Iola’s Issac Badders rushed for 112 yards and the Mustangs lone TD. Braden Sloyer filled the void in the Wildcats backfield, replacing injured RB Cael Johnson, totaling 123 yards on 25 carries.
