The Chanute Blue Comet boys basketball team gained a win in their first home game of the season against the Golden Plain Owls. Corbett Kimberlin’s 13 points and Nate Audiss’s 11 led the Comets to a 60-40 victory.

Chanute also saw a great performance from Brayden Frederick. Despite only dropping 4 points, Frederick proved his worth on both offense and defense.

“I thought Brayden Frederick played really well in the 3rd quarter for us. He’s a guy who hadn’t played here for a little bit. We missed him last year and came back out, I thought he got some good minutes in there and played well,” Chanute’s head coach Max Ruark said “Just some really good things on the offensive and defensive end of the floor, got a couple of extra shots, in the right place at the right time.”

As a team, these guys played really well through the entire game. Their offense was amazing and their ability to control on the defensive end and create turnovers was impeccable.

“We played hard with energy on the defensive end of the floor, in the first half especially. We had some guys on the offensive end of the floor get to some spots and make some plays,” Ruark said “Overall I thought it was some good team effort. I thought there were some things we left on the floor that we need to continue to work on and get better at. I liked the way we came out and played and the guys were hungry.”
