Class 4A-II District 3 Week 8 Preview

Burlington @ Girard – The Trojans survived the road trip to Garnett and jumped out to a 1-0 start in District play. Girard’s week 7 contest spotlighted one of the biggest issues the Trojans have faced all season: offense. The Trojans did not put points on the scoreboard in the 1st half and was roughly midway through the 2nd half before getting back in the game. Girard will face their toughest task in district play when they host Burlington. The Wildcats enter at 4-3 on the season, with a win over Iola 50-14. The Wildcats average 36 points per game offensively and give up on average 22 points per game. If the Trojans defense can keep their team in the game, Girard just might have enough to pull off the upset at home.

Anderson Co @ Iola – Both teams let wins slip away last week. Both teams played close at halftime. One team will get their first win of district action. Iola had success in the 1st half running their offense. The 2nd half saw penalties and mistakes. Anderson County let Girard’s offense hang around long enough to get started. Anderson County is 1-6 on the season, their offense has struggled throughout the season. These are 2 teams looking to finish the season on a high note with one week to go. Expect this to be a low scoring game.
