2019 Review

The best part of last season was that we came together as a team, improved in so many facets of the game and had so many players contribute to the team success. The biggest challenge was that we didn’t respond well in big games regarding our execution and technique. We have to continue to develop and mature. What we hope to have learned is that we have to continue to mature as a team and maintain a level of focus throughout the season to get better at doing our jobs every day.

2020 Outlook

We will win or lose with the way our offensive and defensive line performs. They will set the tone for us on both sides of the ball. We have to be able to limit turnovers offensively and create turnovers on defense. We return starters in several key positions and have a number of players with varsity experience.

Our senior group works hard as a whole and we have a solid group of younger players that will push for playing time. We will look for seniors such as Lynn Shallenburger, Sylas Stone and Caleb Murillo to continue to set the example for us daily on how to work and be a positive teammate. We also have a strong group of Junior leaders such as Gabe Martin, Jaxson Haraughty and Trent Smith that will do their part each day to help set the standards in our program. If these players can do those things for us consistently each day we will be able to count on their leadership on game days.

The biggest change has to be in how we approach daily/weekly preparation. We have to practice with focus, effort and intensity to improve daily and maintain that for the duration of the season. We also have to be able to hold one another accountable to standards/expectations within our team. Our expectation will be to improve each and every week and be a team that will play with great execution and effort.
