The Chanute Blue Comets faced off with the Augusta Orioles in the finals of regional playoffs. Augusta came out with the 2-1 win.
Augusta took advantage of a poor first-half performance from Chanute, leading 1-0 at halftime behind a goal by Payton Ball. In the second half, Brandon Anderson would put the Orioles up 2-0. Then in the 59th minute, Chanute’s Jacob Adams hit a penalty kick goal to lower the deficit to 2-1. The Comets played a fantastic second half but couldn’t finish goals.
With the Comets’ season-ending they say goodbye to an amazing class of seniors and a few others. First and foremost they’re losing all three team captains, goalkeeper Chandler Finuf, the “Golden Boot” Jacob Adams, and the heart of the Comet backline Noah Crapson. They’ll also lose Jay Brown, Moi Kwek, Nate Rodriguez, Thomas Ramsey, and Fillipa Kyed.
