The excitement is building as the Crest High School volleyball team gets ready to hit the court for another thrilling season in the Three Rivers League. Led by the experienced Head Coach Abigail Hermreck, who is entering her 12th year at the helm, this talented group of athletes is aiming to continue their winning legacy.
Last year was a remarkable one for the team, with an impressive overall record of 26-8 and a league record of 10-1. The team achieved the highest number of victories in the school’s history, making waves in the world of high school volleyball.
While the team bids farewell to Senior McKenna Hammond, whose outstanding contributions included 135 kills, a serving success rate of 92% with an impressive 70 aces, 261 digs, and 15 blocks, the Crest High School volleyball team is prepared to take on new challenges with a roster full of returning stars.
Fans can look forward to an exciting lineup of returning players, including Senior Kayla Hermreck, Senior Brooklynn Jones, Junior Karlee Boots, and Sophomore Kinley Edgerton. These seasoned players will be joined by Sophomore Kaelin Nilges and Sophomore Aylee Beckmon, all of whom are set to bring their skills and dedication to the court.
Among the top returners, Senior Kayla Hermreck stands out with her remarkable stats. With an impressive 312 kills, 158 assists, 52 aces, 161 digs, and 34 blocks, she has earned the title of Unanimous First Team All League. Notably, she also secured a spot in the KVA Class 1A Division 1 All-State Second Team. As she stands just 139 kills away from achieving 1000 career kills, her journey in the world of volleyball is one to watch. Additionally, she has already committed to playing for Butler Community College, a testament to her exceptional talent.
Junior Karlee Boots, known for her agility and precision, contributed 73 kills, a serving success rate of 92% with 38 aces, and an impressive 271 digs in the previous season. Sophomore Kinley Edgerton showcased her versatility with 45 kills, 283 assists, a serving success rate of 91% with 44 aces, and 3 blocks. Senior Brooklynn Jones, a crucial passer, is expected to play a pivotal role in the team’s success this season.
