The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association released not just their first pre-season ranking of the 2019-2020 season, but also the first-ever High School Girls Wrestling State Rankings in Kansas history.
Labette County Girls Wrestling team placed 3rd, Burlingame Girls 4th, Caney Valley Girls 5th, and Osawatomie 7th.
Here are how area student-athlete’s placed in the first girls wrestling individual rankings:
101 Weight Class
Osawatomie senior Amanda Newcomb was picked preseason number 1 while Labette County sophomore Chole Gile placed 3rd.
109 Weight Class
Independence junior Alexis Allen placed 4th in the preseason poll.
116 Weight Class
Fort Scott junior Jenna Graham placed 4th in the preseason poll.
136 Weight Class
Burlingame junior Gianna Culbert placed 1st while Caney Valley senior Cassidy Anderson placed 5th in the preseason poll.
143 Weight Class
Labette County senior Abbie Jones placed 1st in the preseason poll with Fort Scott senior Hannah Vann placed 2nd.
155 Weight Class
Fort Scott senior Alexis Rusk placed 6th in the preseason poll.
170 Weight Class
Prairie View junior Copenhagen Browning placed 4th in the preseason poll.
191 Weight Class
Fort Scott junior Mersaide Roof placed 3rd in the preseason poll.
235 Weight Class
Caney Valley senior Grace Pinkerton placed 1st in the preseason poll with Fort Scott junior Laurin Thompson placing 2nd.
