CHANUTE, KS – The Fort Scott Tigers continued to roll through the Southeast Kansas League with a 34-13 win over host Chanute Blue Comets.
Tigers Senior Zarek Fewell scored 3 rushing touchdowns and a 2 point conversion in a game dominated with rushing attacks.
“They were a lot more physical than we were. They had too many yards without him being touched.” said Coach Chris Shields.
The Comets came in to the game with starting quarterback Ty Bowman out due to concussion protocol and questions on the health of the line.
“I thought Kimberlin performed well. Stood in the pocket. Threw some good balls. I’m very proud of him.”
The Comets received the ball to start the game, however couldn’t get an offensive flow put together due to the physical pressure Fort Scott brought to the line. After punting the ball away, in a precursor to the night, Fort Scott drove down the field backed by running back Fewell and was on the board first.
“We just have to play more physical upfront.” said Chanute coach Shields.
Fort Scott would jump to a 20-7 halftime lead and use the controlling ground game to win 34-13.
The Tigers are now perfect on the season, with all 3 wins over SEK League opponents (3-0, 3-0). Chanute suffers their 2nd consecutive loss (1-2, 0-1) and are back on the road against Ottawa.
