FREDONIA, KS – Despite mental mistakes and adapting to new personnel, the Fredonia Yellow Jackets were able to grind out a win over Tri-Valley League foe Erie on Friday night with the final score of 28-8.
“We had a couple of players that had big games for the second consecutive week.” said Fredonia coach Marc Svaty.
Quaterback Devin Hendrix put up big. effective passing numbers for the second consecutive week going 9 of 14 for 210 yards 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Wide receiver Joe Reyes was good for 8 receptions for 195 yards and 1 receiving touchdown.
Hendrix also contributed in rushing with 112 yards on 19 attempts and 2 touchdowns. Running Back Lorenzo Celani added 8 carries and 124 yards as well in the win over Erie.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-1 overall and picked up their first league win. Erie is now 0-3 with all losses coming against league opponents. Fredonia will travel to Cherryvale, who handed Eureka their first loss of the season and also struggled with penalties and mistakes in their game. Kick off is scheduled for 7PM Friday night.
