Burlingame‘s ball carriers put the football on the ground five times, losing three to turnovers, during Friday night’s victory over Colony-Crest 58-22.

“We didn’t play our best tonight. Our ball security was a disappointment, we put the ball on the ground way too many times,” stated Burlingame Head Coach Jeff Slater.

Senior quarterback Kade Kline only attempted three passes, completing one for a touchdown to Junior Austin Tyson for 28 yards. Kline added two more touchdowns on the game for the Bearcats.

Leading the Burlingame rushing attack was Junior Wyatt Ledom who took 15 carries for 83 yards and one score.

Freshman Colby Middleton added 9 carries for 41 yards and a score. Junior Colby Davidson and Sophomore Kris Hovestadt would also add rushing touchdowns for the Bearcats. Hovestadt would add another touchdown to his resume, this time from a 46-yard punt return before the night was up.

Colony-Crest showed some resiliency as they trailed 42-0 at the half before outscoring Burlingame 22-16 in the second half.

The Lancers were led in rushing by Junior Caleb Nolan, as he found 61 yards on 9 carries for one score. The other two scores for Colony-Crest came from Junior Jacquez Coleman and Senior Zack Beckmon.

Burlingame will look to stay undefeated against the MDCV Trojans (0-2) on Friday.

The Lancers (1-1) will host Maranatha Christ Academy on Friday.
