HUMBOLDT – The Humboldt Cubs cruised to a 20-0 lead at halftime. They would not score again for the remainder of the game as Riverton scored twice in the 4th quarter, but the Cubs defense was able to hold off a late rally and push the number five team in class 2A to 3-0 in district play.

Senior Conor Haviland was responsible for all of the Cubs offense as he posted up 236 yards on the ground with 21 carries with 2 rushing touchdowns; He also went 3-for-7 with 36 yards passing and a touchdown. Senior Isiah Coronado hauled in the touchdown pass along with 40 yards receiving on Friday night.

Humboldt struggled to hold on to the ball with 3 turnovers, however, the defense was able to record 2 interceptions of their own to only but the Cubs at -1.

Humboldt improves to 6-0 overall with their last home game of the regular season against Northeast-Arma looming next Friday. The Cubs are tied with Southeast-Cherokee at 3-0 for the top spot of District 1 in 2A.

The Riverton Rams fall to 2-1 in district play, holding sole possession of 3rd place at this time, and 3-3 overall with a trip to Southeast on Friday night.
