KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time in 2019, Independence was overmatched from start to finish. The Bulldogs dropped to 1-5 on the season with a 34-7 loss at Kansas City (Mo.)-Center last Friday.

IHS will make its final home appearance of the season this Friday against Towanda-Circle. The Thunderbirds are also 1-5 overall following a 48-3 setback at Buhler last week.

Despite just one win in its first five games, the Bulldogs had been competitive in those losses, falling by an average of 8.5 points per game. Unfortunately, that meant little in this matchup as the host Yellowjackets jumped out to a 21-0 advantage at the intermission and never looked back.

Center (6-1) expanded its lead up to 28-0 after three quarters. Independence finally broke through on the scoreboard with a nine-yard touchdown pass from Brayden Coller to Matthew Grant. The Yellowjackets tacked on one more score later in the contest to cap off the blowout victory.
