Get ready to lace up your running shoes and hit the trails as the Iola High School Cross Country Team prepares for an action-packed 2023 season. With both experienced athletes and fresh talent, this year is shaping up to be one of promise and determination.
Coach Daugharthy Leads the Way
Guiding the team with a steady hand, Coach Brittany Daugharthy is heading into her third year at the helm. Her dedication and expertise have already made a mark, and she’s all set to bring out the best in our runners.
Meet the Team
Last year saw some changes, and we bid farewell to a few outstanding athletes. We’re grateful for their contributions, and if you have any stats to share about their performance, we’d love to hear them.
As we dive into the new season, we’re excited to welcome back two returning lettermen who are ready to lead the charge. Keep an eye on Cole Moyer, a Junior who not only secured an All-League spot with a fantastic 6th place finish (18:44) but also made us proud at the State qualifier with a strong 10th place finish (18:34), and an impressive 42nd place finish (18:19) in the state competition. Sophomore Brennan Coffield made his mark too, clinching 21st place at the league with a time of 20:58.
And that’s not all – we have a rising star in our midst. Freshman Keegan Hill is joining the team this year, and we can’t wait to see his potential unfold.
Setting Our Sights on 2023
The anticipation is building as we look ahead to the 2023 season. Our goals? To set new personal records (PRs), to shine as All-League runners, and to earn our spot at the State competition. With our dedicated athletes and passionate coaching staff, we’re ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
Alumni Spotlight
It’s always inspiring to see our former team members continue their running journey in college. Rachel Bycroft is now representing Pitt State, and we’re proud to see her carry forward the spirit of Iola High School’s cross country excellence.
