Kansas Class 3A District 8 Update

After last weeks big win by the Neodesha Blue Streaks versus Wilson county rival Fredonia 34-7 we just might have a crazy week 8.  Caney Valley had no problem with Eureka to start district play winning 54-0.  The Streaks will have to travel to Caney to challenge for the district 8 championship. The Fredonia Yellow Jackets will go on the road to try and get back on track at Eureka.

Neodesha 4-3 at Caney Valley 5-2

Senior quarterback Michael Shinkle returned from a 2 week absence from an injury last week .  He was huge in the victory against Fredonia. Shinkle rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown. He is going to have to do the same this week versus a really tough Bullpup team . Easier said than done . Caney Valley has only allowed 7 points per ballgame up to this point.  They have also held 3 teams scoreless.  Neodesha does have a defense that likes to swarm the ball. To stop Grant Richey of Caney they will need all hands on board to play their best football of the season .

My prediction – Caney Valley 28 Neodesha 13

Fredonia 3-4 at Eureka 2-5

Fredonia is coming off back to back losses for the first time this season .  They have been outscored 70-14 in those ballgames .  Eureka has lost 5 straight since opening the season 2-0 versus non-league opponents .  Eureka will have the best player on the field in this game on their side with Kash Parmes .  I believe Fredonia will just have to much speed for Eureka .  Fredonia brings one of the top wide receivers from the Tri-Valley league in Joe Reyes . They also have a quality quarterback with Delvin Hendrix and running back Owen Blandamer.

My prediciton – Fredonia 32 Eureka 20

District 8 Standings

Caney Valley 1-0  +21 points

Neodesha 1-0  +21 points

Fredonia 0-1 -21 points

Eureka 0-1 -21 points
