Kansas Class 3A District 8

District 8 has a champion for this season already but there is still a chance for Eureka and Neodesha to make the playoffs.  They will match up against each other this Thursday night in Neodesha. Caney Valley has won their first two district games by at least 21 points each to wrap up a district 8 championship.

Caney Valley 2-0 42 points

Caney beat Neodesha 47-7 last week to assure themselves a home playoff game next week Tuesday.  Grant Richey has run through about every defense he has faced this season .  They will face a Fredonia team that has really struggled this season .  The Bullpups won last years contest versus the Yellow Jackets 40-30. Caney does need this victory to give themselves a share of the Tri-Valley league title .

My prediction – Caney Valley 48 Fredonia 6

Neodesha 1-1 0 points

The Blue Streaks will face Tri-Valley league opponent Eureka at home Thursday .  Quarterback Michael Shinkle is back healthy and playing well . Just two weeks ago he had over 200 yards rushing against league rival Fredonia.  Shinkle , Randall McKinnis , and Dominic Skinner will use their speed and athletic ability to put enough points on the board against the Tornadoes this week. They will need to slow down star player Kash Parmes from breaking off big plays or they could have a game on their hands.

My prediction – Neodesha 35 Eureka 20

Eureka 1-1 -17 points

The Tornadoes started the season off 2-0 after playing non league opponents. Then they lost 5 straight games. After defeating Fredonia last week 30-26 they have kept their playoff hopes alive. I believe they will have to win by 10 points to get in , but they still have a chance. The Tornadoes are led by senior Kash Parmes. He can line up at quarterback when needed or he can play tailback.  I am not sure the Tornadoes have enough team speed to stop Neodesha this week .  Eureka lost last years game against the Blue Streaks 40-0.

Fredonia 0-2 -25 points

The wheels have completely fallen off for the Yellow Jackets.  I am not sure what has happened here.  They have some talented players at the skill positions complemented with some size on the inside.  Definitely not good timing with a match up against Caney Valley .  Caney is as tough as they come in the Tri-Valley league.  I hope Fredonia puts up a decent game so its seniors can go out knowing they gave it their all .
