LCHS Volleyball Takes 3rd In Iola Tournament Saturday

The LCHS Volleyball team was back in action Saturday at the Iola tournament following a week of practice. They took home a 3rd place finish and improved to a 5-5 overall record in a tournament that also hosted Anderson County, Burlington, Prairie View and Pittsburg.

“I’m really proud of our team for finishing strongly today.  We definitely had our ups and downs in this tournament.” said LCHS volleyball coach Heather Wilson.

Wilson noted that they team did not play to their potential in the meeting with Burlington.

“Burlington’s a quality program that put us on the defense almost every play.  We battled down the stretch, and I believe we had a turning point for our season at the end of the day today.”

Here are the results for LCHS in Saturday’s tournament.

LCHS def. Prairie View in pool play 25-14, 25-9

Burlington def. LCHS in pool play 9-25, 14-25

Pittsburg def. LCHS in pool play 13-25, 23-25

LCHS def. Iola in pool play 25-14, 25-14

 

In the semi-finals, Burlington def. LCHS 25-8, 25-14

In the 3rd place game, LCHS def. Anderson Co. 25-19, 25-13

 

Burlington def. Pittsburg in the Championship game.

 

Wilson added “Hope to carry that momentum into playing our first league matches on Tuesday versus Indy and Coffeyville.”
