GIRARD — Led by individual champion Cormick Logue, Girard captured the boys’ team title in the CNC League Cross Country Invitational Thursday at Greenbush Education Service Center.
Logue recorded a time of 16:09 to claim first place overall in the boys’ race — 45 seconds ahead of Trojan teammate Hunter Ulbrich in second place at 16:54. Finishing third was Galena’s Ethan Oglesby in 17:20.
Girard, which had five of the top six individual times, ran away with the boys’ team title, finishing the meet with 18 points. Frontenac took second place with 70 points, followed by Pittsburg-Colgan in third with 86, Galena in fourth with 98, Columbus in fifth with 100 and Baxter Springs sixth with 163.
No team championship was awarded on the girls’ side as there were not enough teams competing this season. Girard still took first place in the final standings with 32 points, followed by Pittsburg-Colgan with 42, Columbus 66 and Frontenac 71.
Montana Ohmart of Columbus won the girls’ individual crown with a time of 20:58. Girard took the second and third positions with Megan Shireman at 21:14 and Kenzie Coester at 21:16.
