Madison pounced all over the MDCV Trojans in the first quarter on Friday night. Before the first 12 minutes were over, the scoreboard looked more like a final score with the Bulldogs leading 51-8.
Madison junior Hunter Engle found the endzone first with a 40-yard run one minute into the game. The Bulldog defense would force a punt on the Trojans ensuing possession, in which senior Nasun Wasson would take the punt back 16 yards for the score. Wasson would find the endzone on Madison’s next offensive drive, scoring on a 25-yard run.
Freshman Bryson Turner scored on a pick-six, intercepting the Trojan Pass from Cole Lacey, returning it for 30 yards. Ryan Wolgram would get his first passing touchdown of 2019 when he connected with Drew Stutesman from 24 yards out. Wolgram would add a rushing score and another passing touchdown this time to Engle before the end of the quarter.
The Trojans ended the scoring run for the Bulldogs when Lacey returned the kickoff for 70 yards. However, Lacey would gift the Bulldogs with another touchdown, as he had another interception returned into the endzone by Stutesman.
Madison would go on to score two more touchdowns in the second quarter with passing touchdowns from sophomore Casey Helm to Turner, for 51 yards and 18 respectively. When halftime arrived, the game was over with a 64-8 final.
The Bulldogs finished the night with 274 yards of total offense while holding the Trojans to only 92.
Madison will host Lyon County League rival next week, while MDCV will travel to Lebo.
