Are we really already to week 6!? Football season always seems to fly by, but now that there’s only 3 games left in the regular season of knowing who you’re going to play this season already seems like it’s close to being done. Before we get too far ahead looking to week, here are some things that stood out to me about this past Friday night’s games:

1) Close Call

10 games decided by 8 points or less, including 6 that were decided by 3 points or less. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had some exciting finishes this season and close games, but this week definitely felt like a buffet full of exciting finishes. It will be interesting to see if this is a trend that continues as we get closer to the start of the playoffs and week 9. After all, every points means that much more now for a majority of the teams in our area.

2) Blu-Jays Stay Fly

It seems going back to 8 man for one week only wasn’t an issue for the Pleasanton Blu-Jays. Not only did they drop down to 8-man but they also traveled to Missouri and improved to 5-0. Pleasanton is easily one of the most overlooked teams in Southeast Kansas in what they’re accomplishing this season compared to where they’ve been. If you’re a fan of SEK area football, you need to look at the Blu-Jays from the first 5 weeks and for the rest of the season. They’re a fun group to watch and follow.

3) Sound Off

Shameless plug? Why not. If you’re looking for more football content or want to voice your opinion be sure to join our SEK-Sports.com Message Boards. Especially the closer we get to the playoffs, we’d love to hear who’s having a break out year and who we’re overlooking so we can make sure they’re getting the credit they deserve.
