I’m not going to lie…I took a bit of time to myself this weekend to enjoy time with my family and kids. So with stories coming out a bit slower, I apologize but this weather has me feeling a way. Maybe it’s feeling like we’re actually into FALL sports and not mid-summer. We’re going to have regionals and sub-states soon and we’re STILL having 80 degree weather for some of us. REALLY!? Hasn’t my utility bill suffered enough?

Enough of that rant. Here’s my 3 things that stood out this week:

1.Poll Dancing

How’s that for an attention grabbing headline? Pleasanton and Fort Scott clinched the Three Rivers 11-Man and SEK League titles respectively. Pleasanton was picked LAST in our 1st ever preseason fan poll and yet they’re clinching their first league title in 10 years. Fort Scott was picked 3rd by the coaches and 2nd in our fan poll for the SEK League title. Yet, once again Bob Campbell and crew are the champions. It reinforces that preseason polls are for entertainment purposes only.

2. St. Paul Indians

Coach Keith Waitrak’s St. Paul Indians are one quarter away from being a perfect 6-0. Outside of their blemish to start the season the Indians have not only handled business, but in a deciding margin. In their 5 game winning streak they have an average margin of victory of 41 points. St. Paul will have Chetopa this coming Friday and then take on Southern Coffey County for what should be the District Championship. Do not sleep on St. Paul. They have unfinished business and they’re showing it on the field.

3. Cheap Plug

So here’s where I’m going to make a cheap plug for sponsorships. We are seeking sponsors to help us bring the Class 2A Uniontown Volleyball Sub-State on October 20th via our YouTube channel. We are hoping to broadcast EVERY game. This will include a scorebug (score graphic in non-broadcasting geek terms) so that it’s easy to follow along with the score. We take on travel costs as well as post season rights fees. If you’re interested in sponsoring our broadcast coverage of the 2A Uniontown Sub-State please e-mail admin@sek-sports.com and we will you the information.
