FORT SCOTT — Paola, the No. 4-ranked team in K-Preps’ Class 4A football poll, showed its worthiness of that high esteem at Frary Field Friday night in beating Fort Scott, 58-0.

The Panthers scored more points at Frary Field than any visitor ever has in a high-school game, producing 44 of them in the first half alone. The Tigers (1-1) managed only 36 yards in total offense as Paola held them to minus-6 yards on the ground.

The Panthers scored on their first six possessions. Their first score came with 11:11 on the clock in the first quarter when Fort Scott quarterback and punter Brody Bowles was forced to chase down a high snap on fourth down and kick it out of the back of his own end zone.

Fletcher Aude scored the first of his 3 touchdowns with 7:46 on the clock to make it 9-0. Evan Phillips scored on a 9-yard run with 5:39 to go and Aude cashed in from 8 yards out with 54 seconds remaining. Ryan Wokutch made all three extra-point kicks to make it 23-0.

Connor Has scored on a 36-yard run at 10:48 of the second quarter to push the margin to 30 points. Philllips and quarterback Garrett Williams teamed up for a 34-yard run catch-and-run with exactly eight minutes on the clock. Phillips scored on a 1-yard run with five minutes remaining to make it 44-0.

Aude scored on a 2-yard run with 6:32 to go in the third. Kaden Shay capped the scoring with a 10-yard run with 4:55 left in the game.

Paola gained 455 of its 486 yards of total offense on the ground. Hasz finished with 131 yards on 13 carries while Aude gained 100 on 16 rushes.

Andrew Reed gained 27 yards on 10 rushes for Fort Scott. Bowles completed 5 of 12 passes for 42 yards. C.J. Horton caught 3 of those for 29 yards.

Paola travels to Ottawa (1-1) for a Frontier League game Sept. 20. On the same night, Fort Scott steps back into Southeast Kansas League play with a road game at Independence (0-2). The Bulldogs lost to Labette County, 36-31, Friday night.
