BURLINGTON – The Burlington Wildcats could not slow down the high flying Olpe Eagles as they drop their home opener 42-0 Friday night.
Olpe’s line play on both sides of the ball dominated this game. Kyndon Robert’s first carry of the night for 20 yards set the tone of the game as Olpe scored on an 80-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead at the 5:34 mark.
A 66-yard drive finished with a Robert 6 yard score was followed by a Redeker interception of Burlington’s next possession with Hoelting connecting with Wylie Redeker on a 36 yard TD strike to send the Eagle to the halftime break leading 21-0.
Olpe opened the second half with a 64 yard, 8 play drive to stretch there lead to 28. Burlington’s Cael Johnson broke the Wildcat’s biggest play of the night with a 61-yard run but the Eagles defense stopped the Cats drive on the 4-yard line.
The next possession finds Robert going 85 yards up the sideline for the score. With a 35-0 lead and running clock fourth quarter, Robert adds his third TD of the night on a 48-yard carry to finish his night with 16 carries for 245 yards. Johnson goes over the 100 yard mark for the Cat’s with 18 carries for 134 yards.
Burlington (1-1, 0-0 )will host the Wellsville Eagles (1-1, 2-0) next Friday night while the Olpe Eagles (2-0) will tune-up again Christ Prep Academy before the start of district action.
