Oxford – The Oswego Indians out rushed the Oxford Wildcats 297 to 156 yards to close out the 2019 regular season with a win.

The game opened up with a Jace Wilson 19 yard run with the 2-point conversion failing. Neither team could get much offense going after that with a 1st quarter score of 6-0.

Both teams offenses found some success in the 2nd quarter. Isaac Elliott scored on a 1 yard run 29 seconds into the 2nd quarter. A failed 2-point conversion rushing attempt pushed the Indians ahead 12-0.

Ty Carter for Oxford would get his team on the board with a pass play to Andrew Hills. Their attempt at a 2-point play would also fail to pull Oxford within a touchdown 12-6.

Isaac Elliott stretched the lead back to 2 scores on a 1-yard run. The 2-point pass conversion would fall short and Oswego made it a 2 score game.

Carter would once again have success through the air, this time connecting with Colin Whitson. Carter found Anthony Schulte in the endzone on the 2-point conversion for a halftime score of 18-14 in favor of Oswego.

Both defenses came out in the 3rd quarter, not allowing a score on either side as the halftime score remained at the end of the 3rd quarter 18-14.

The tug-of-war battle continued, but with 1:26 to go in the game Jace Wilson put the game away with a 38 yard run. The 2-point conversion would fail for the final score of 24 – 14.

Turnovers were an issue for both teams. Oswego turned the ball over on 4 lost fumbles while Oxford turned the ball over on 4 interceptions and 3 lost fumbles.

The win ends the Oswego Indians season at 6-3 overall. Oxford ends their season with a 3-6 overall record.
