After some impressive finals after Friday night week 1 in high school football action, 4 regional teams were given state rankings via KPreps.com.
In Class 4A, Pittsburg (1-0) was not ranked to start the season but their 40-0 win over Labette County was enough to move them into the #4 spot in this week’s poll. The Purple Dragons will host Chanute (1-0) on Friday night.
In Class 1A, Olpe (1-0) dismantled a young Osawatomie (0-1) team and earned the #4 spot in this week’s poll. KPreps.com noted Colby Hoelting’s effort with 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing while giving credit to the Eagle defense for keeping the Trojans limited to 100 yards.
The Pleasant BluJays and St. Mary’s Colgan Panthers were given consideration for a Top 5 ranking.
In Class 8M-I, Madison (1-0)’s halftime win over Marais des Cygnes Valley (0-1) was enough to give the Bulldogs a number 5 ranking. The Bulldogs 51 first-quarter points were enough to move the Bulldogs into the top 5 of this week’s rankings.
Fellow Lyon County League members Burlingame (1-0) and Lebo (1-0) along with SCBL members Caldwell (1-0) and Cedar Vale-Dexter (1-0) and Three Rivers League member Oswego (1-0) were all up for consideration.
In Class 8M-II, St. Paul (1-0)’s Adam Albetini’s 229 yards on the ground, 6 touchdowns, 47 yards passing and passing touchdown was enough to capture the attention of the KPrep’s writers and move the Three Rivers League team into the #4 spot.
