As the new school year approaches, anticipation is building for another thrilling season of high school volleyball for the Riverton Rams. With the Volleyball Questionnaire 2023 providing insights into the team’s roster, coaching staff, and past achievements, it’s evident that the Rams are gearing up for another remarkable year on the court.
Coaches and Staff
Leading the charge for the Riverton Rams is Head Coach Rebecca Lipasek, a veteran with an impressive 7 years of experience at Riverton and a remarkable 33 years overall. Assisting Coach Lipasek are a talented group of coaches: Kellyn Lipasek, Ashlee Ludwig, and Kyleigh Lipasek. Together, this coaching team is set to guide the players to new heights.
Notable Achievements from 2022
The previous year was nothing short of historic for the Rams. They secured their first-ever final four appearance in the history of Riverton volleyball. Moreover, the team clinched their third consecutive substate championship, propelling them to the state tournament. A notable highlight was their second consecutive undefeated CNC title. The Rams also emerged victorious in tournaments including Neosho, Iola, and Osawatomie, and earned the Silver Champions title in the Carl Jct. Tournament.
Remembering the Standouts
While looking back, it’s important to acknowledge the contributions of key players who have moved on. Jacy Thomasson left an indelible mark with over 2000 career kills, 200+ blocks, and 1000+ digs. Morgan Compton’s impressive record included over 2000 assists. Their absence will surely be felt, but the team is ready to embrace the new season with fresh energy.
Returning Stars
The Rams are heading into the 2023 season with a strong core of players. Five starters are making a comeback, with a total of seven returning lettermen. EJ Wells, a senior middle hitter, stood out with 268 kills, 91 aces, 56 blocks, and 191 digs. Junior libero Lexie Mallatt demonstrated her prowess with 391 digs, 47 aces, and 531 serve receptions. Alivia, a senior outside hitter, contributed 134 kills and 267 digs. Junior Maddie Darnaby, a versatile player in the middle hitter and outside hitter positions, tallied 47 kills and 13 blocks.
Fresh Faces and New Talent
As the Rams gear up for the upcoming season, they are welcoming some promising newcomers. Gracie Rantz, a sophomore middle hitter, is set to make her mark, alongside freshmen Rilyn Thomasson as an outside hitter and senior Josie Harper as a setter. Landyn Martin, a junior setter, will also join the ranks. Their addition is expected to bolster the team’s dynamics and provide new opportunities for strategic gameplay.

With a stronger emphasis on balance and defensive play, the Rams are gearing up for a promising 2023 season. The introduction of two new setters promises improved offensive consistency, and the team is dedicated to honing their skills to reach new levels of excellence.
