After making its first postseason appearance since 2009, the South Central Border League fans have spoken as they believe the Sedan Blue Devils will be a team to look out for during the 2019 campaign.

The Blue Devils, coming off a 7-2 season that included the Eight Man I-District 1 championship, are the favorite to win the most games among SCBL teams according to a fan poll. Sedan edged out its biggest rival, West Elk, for that top spot. The Patriots struggled a season ago at 1-8 overall, but that was a rarity for WEHS as the program had won 44 of its previous 48 regular-season games heading into 2018.

Six SCBL teams advanced to the playoffs a year ago, including Eight Man-Division I qualifiers Sedan, Udall, Cedar Vale/Dexter, Central of Burden and Caldwell, as well as Eight Man-Division II participant South Haven. Argonia-Attica, which is an independent in football as part of a cooperative agreement between the two schools, also qualified in the Eight Man I playoffs and advanced to the sectional round.

With that many playoff participants from a year ago, fans are expecting a competitive season amongst South Central Border League teams. Due to an unbalanced scheduled and some teams not playing enough league opponents, there will not be an official SCBL champion declared this season.

SEK-Sports.com welcomes the SCBL into its coverage area this season and looks forward to an exciting 2019 football campaign.
