The Sedan High School football team is gearing up for an action-packed season in the SCBL league, 8-man Div. 1 classification. Led by Head Coach Mick Holt, who boasts an impressive 18 years of experience, the team is ready to hit the field with determination and drive.
Coach Holt, with an overall coaching record of 105-61 and 13 years at Sedan, has been instrumental in shaping the team’s success. His leadership, along with his dedicated assistant coaches John Pray and Cody Gorby, sets the stage for another remarkable year.
Returning to the field are several key players who showcased their skills last season. Jeremiah Prince, a senior RB/LB, stands out as a star performer. With an incredible 96 rushes for 704 yards and 14 touchdowns, Prince is set to be a pivotal offensive weapon. Jackson Dowell, a junior RB/OL/LB, is another player to watch, known for his 76 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. Lucky Cherico, a junior OL/DE, and Jacob Darbro, a sophomore OL/NG, also bring their expertise to the team’s foundation.
The team’s aspirations for the year are high, aiming to reclaim the District Championship. However, the path to victory won’t be without its challenges. With 4 offensive and 5 defensive starters graduating, the team will rely on its 6 returning lettermen, 4 offensive starters, and 3 defensive starters. Developing strong teamwork and chemistry among these young players will be crucial for success.
Jeremiah Prince, who showcased his versatility by playing QB last season, is expected to shine as the main offensive weapon once again, possibly taking on the role of running back this year. Additionally, he and Jackson Dowell will lead the linebacking core, showcasing their skills on both sides of the ball.
