The regular season has officially come to a close for baseball and softball in the Southeast Kansas League.
In baseball, Fort Scott and Chanute shared the SEK championship with identical 10-2 marks. The Tigers repeat as league champs after sharing the crown with Pittsburg in 2019. It is the 12th SEK title in program history, which ranks Fort Scott second all-time behind Pittsburg with 14. Fort Scott has now earned at least a share of the championship six times since 2013. Meanwhile, the Blue Comets claimed a share of their first SEK crown since 2006 and fourth in program history.
As for softball, Pittsburg won the SEK title with an 11-1 league mark. The Purple Dragons captured just their second league title in program history. The only other championship came in 2007. Pittsburg’s championship ended Independence’s string of three straight SEK crowns from 2017-19.———————
