SEK-Sports.com Announces Expansion

What a wild month it has been for us here at SEK-Sports.com. It’s hard to believe in a matter of 4 weeks, we went from this:

To the website you see today.

Please keep in mind, many of our contributors are first time writers. They are volunteering their time to share game recaps, spotlight student athletes, preview games, etc. They are learning as they go along. There will be growing pains, but we appreciate the patience, and excitement, of the added coverage and material.

With that in mind, we are excited to announce the expansion of this website in various fronts.

First, due to the late start in website overhaul, we haven’t been able to give proper coverage to other fall sports. One of the primary goals of this site is to cover all boys and girls sports in some capacity. Football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, tennis and more. Actually, I think was it.

We will grow in to that coverage with time.

With that goal in mind, we are excited to announce continued coverage in to boys and girls basketball beginning with the 2017-2018 season. We have the staff to continue coverage with a passion and look forward to the challenge of bringing you the information and stories you’re looking for.

For our next announcement, we are reaching out to area high school journalism classes. We are beginning to reach out to schools that have newspapers and web design classes and offer this site as an extension for real world experience that will help them boost their college and professional resume. There are more plans down the road to offer scholarships for high school seniors who do volunteer and assist with our site, but like the coverage of all sports this too will be something we grow in to.

Lastly, SEK-Sports.com will begin expanding in to live stream broadcasting. Starting as soon as Sub-State Volleyball this month, the SEK-Sports.com Network will begin broadcasting live coverage of select events in the region. We want to provide top quality broadcast coverage of our student athletes. Just like local coverage for teams in our area, we feel that there is a need for top quality live streaming video broadcast coverage of special events.

More details will be available soon, but we wanted to share our vision and plans for the near future with you.

To recap (or in case you’re scrolling for the condensed version):

  • Extending coverage in to winter sports beginning this year with Boys and Girls Basketball
  • Partnering with area school journalism and web design classes for real world experience
  • Providing live stream broadcasting coverage of select events featuring area teams
