The cliche goes “you always remember your first love.”

For Prairie View senior Justin Scott, he remembers the spark that ignited his love for the game of football.

“When my oldest brother started playing football, I started to learn the game and began to think it was interesting. I decided to try it and began falling in love with the physicality and competition in the game,” recalled Scott.

“I began playing and the success is what really got my attention because getting beat is never fun. From that point on I never had a slight thought that there was an option to not play football.”

Football isn’t Scott’s only love for sports as he stays active with his friends on the weekends during the season playing baseball.

Justin is also a member of the Basketball team during the winter, where he’s averaged 10 points per game through his first three years, including 273 points scored last season.

Justin earned honorable mention in the Tri-County Spotlight as well ast 1st Team All-County in 2018 for basketball.

For baseball, he was honored with 2nd team All-League Shortstop and Pitcher recognition as well as 2nd Team Tri-County Spotlight Infield.

Academically, Justin Scott has been able to maintain a 3.7 GPA.

This football season Justin Scott is on his way to over 1,000 yards rushing. In week 4 he passed the 1,000 yard mark going 5 of 10 with 89 yards thrown.

“Great kid who makes good decisions on and off the field.   It has been a pleasure to coach him the last 3 years,” said head football caoch Kyle Littrell.

We had a chance to catch up with Justin Scott recently and to get to know the Buffalo’s senior more.

SEK-Sports.com: It’s your final year of high school. What are your favorite memories during that time and what are your expectations for your senior year?

JS: During high school, a lot of memories are made, but no memories compared to making the playoffs for the first time in 20 years at PV, being undefeated district champs and league champs. The best memories in high school were made on the football field. My expectations for my senior year is to take a step farther, going into playoffs undefeated, which would mean beating Galena who was our only regular-season loss, and making it farther than we did in the 2018 playoffs.

SEKS: What are some of your interests and hobbies away from school?

JS: Hunting, Fishing, shooting guns (target shooting)

SEKS: Who is your favorite athlete? Favorite sports team? Favorite music group/singer?

JS: Patrick Mahomes became my favorite athlete because of his talent and he is extremely humble. My favorite sports team has been the Kansas City Chiefs ever since I knew who they were. If I had to pick Koe Wetzel and George Strait would be at the top of my list.

SEKS: Who are the people that you look up too (role models)?

JS: I look up to my parents because they made me the man I am today, my brother who is in the Marine Corps, my oldest brother who has shown a work ethic I plan to follow, and my football coaches for always doing their best to teach life lessons in the midst of football.

SEKS: What are your plans after graduating?

JS: After I graduate I plan to play college baseball and get a degree in Criminal Justice.

SEKS: Finally, what is a fun fact about you that people may, or may not know?

JS: I didn’t plan on playing football my junior and senior year until the day before practice I missed it so much and immediately called coach Littrell asking if it was too late to be a part of the team.
