2019 Recap

Playing a tough schedule with several new starters on both sides of the ball. We had to form a new identity around our personnel while playing quality competition. We learned how to adapt on the fly and overcome adversity of injuries. Further, each week of the season brings new opportunity to grow, learn, and get better. We got better each week and came together at the end of the season in time for the playoffs, which is when you want to be playing your best. We learned how to use our personnel and fit our schemes and system to their abilities and strengths.  Responding to a 1-3 start with six straight wins in the middle of the year. We had a lot of new faces in key positions early in the year and struggled through a tough early season schedule. But we came together and responded well to finish with another deep run in the playoffs. Watching the team respond to the adversity and overcome challenges to eventually see success was the most rewarding part of the season.

2020 outlook

The unknown of the summer and pre-season leading up to the season. Obviously every school is in the same boat, but how we use the time allowed prior to the season is going to be vital, and its unlike anything any of us have experienced before. Getting everyone back on board and back in shape in minimal time will be a change, and how we execute that change will be critical.

As with every other team around the state, our kids were not able to compete or work together throughout the spring. We will have to overcome that down time and time away and get back into competitive shape and a competitive mindset. Further, we will need to get better in the small details of execution on both sides of the ball. Not just understanding assignments, but understanding how to complete those assignments successfully.

Help everyone, coaches and players, fulfill their role to the maximum ability to be the best team we can be so that we can win a district championship and a state championship (since there is no longer a CNC League championship).
