GARNETT – In a tight battle Friday night it was the Bulldogs of Anderson County who came out on top over the CNC‘s Girard Trojans, by a score of 35-28, to improve to 2-0 in district play and 3-2 overall.

“Our kids played very well against a very tough Girard team,” said Bulldogs coach Logan Pegram. “We had a great game offensively and the kids executed very well.”

Senior Bo Dilliner went 5-of-7 with 144 yards throwing and three touchdowns. He also added 200 yards on the ground with 27 carries and a touchdown. Tanner Spencer was Dilliner’s favorite target with 147 yards receiving, including hauling in 3 touchdowns.

Defensively, the Bulldogs caused some fits for the Trojans throughout the night. Josh Stifter recovered a fumble and Dalton Kellerman and Chaylin Peine both recorded a sack.

“Defensivley we made some stops when we needed too. We have to continue to improve defensively as we develop a mindset to stop the run. We gave up too miuch on the ground Friday night and need to shore that up as we progress into the season,” noted Pegram.

The Girard Trojans fall to 1-1 in the district and 2-3 overall. The Trojans will travel to undefeated Prairie View on Friday night.

Anderson County will host Osawatomie for their Homecoming on Friday night. The Trojans of Oz fell to Iola 32-15 last Friday night. This game will also be a Pioneer League game.
