Tri Valley league week 2 preview

Week 2 Tri Valley league

Every team once again will play a league opponent in week 2. In every game this week someone will get their first win or loss. If your team won last week they will play a team that also won. If your team lost last week they will play someone who also lost last week. There was really only one close game last week. Eureka won by a score of 10-0 over Leon Bluestem. This week should be much more competitive.

Erie (0-1) @ Neodesha (0-1)

Erie was held scoreless against Fredonia in week 1 . Jaden Gard will need some help this week from his Red Devil teammates. Gard , quarterback for Erie contributed for almost every yard gained in the contest last week. The Bluestreaks had a rough week as well with turnovers early. Senior Blaze Grimes will give Erie all they can handle . He is a tough runner who can also make all the cuts to take it to the house at any moment. Bryan Adams and Randall McKinnis could have a big night as well. McKinnis looked like he had a high ankle sprain in last weeks game against the Cubs. Hopefully he is healthy enough to give it a go .

Leon Bluestem (0-1) @ Cherryvale (0-1)

Neither of these teams had anything go their way offensively a week ago. Leon had opportunities but just could not capitalize. Cherryvale went up against the ever tough Caney Valley .  Both teams should be able to put last week behind them and try to get things going in the right direction. The Chargers should have a lot more time to get plays developed up front so Cade Addis and Garrett Novotny can make big plays. Bluestem will still have trouble scoring against Cherryvale unless they can come away with some big plays on defense.

Caney Valley (1-0) @ Eureka (1-0) will be played at Caney

Can you say ” Reloaded” ? That is what Caney Valley does every year. Quarterback Trey Richey , Matt Simpson, and Cole Ellis are going to make it really tough on any opponent in their way this season. The Bullpups will use a ground and pound offense and a smothering powerful defense to get what they want on both sides of the ball. Eureka coming off a 10-0 week 1 win will definitely have their hands full in this contest. They will not be able to get away with some of the mistakes that they had in week 1. Eureka will be playing this home game on the road because of the late June tornado that damaged their stadium.

Humboldt (1-0) @ Fredonia (1-0)

This game looks to be speed versus strength .  Fredonia has a lot of size up front on both sides of the ball. The Cubs will be bringing some size with a lot of team speed. Both teams are coming off  big  wins from a week ago. Humboldt’s Conor Haviland can take it to the endzone from anywhere on the field. I am sure he has been talked about in Fredonia’s practices all week.  The Yellow Jackets senior Owen Blandamer is a tough runner who Humboldt will have to prepare for . Fredonia will need to do like last week and not help the opponent with penalties. They only had 4 a week ago. Plus they only allowed 89 yards of offense from their opponent. Humboldt’s Senior quarterback/linebacker Dagen Goodner will try to lead his team to a 2-0 start.

Like I say every week ” go see a high school football game” .  It is really fun and exciting to watch all the young men from each of the 8 schools in the league compete and do the best they can. Good luck to all the schools and stay healthy .

Week 3 Sek-sports.com will have a live video with audio broadcast for the Eureka @ Humboldt game. We thought it would be a good idea to do this for the Eureka folks who just aren’t able to make it to every road game this season after the tornado.  You can tune in on our Sek-sports.com Youtube channel .
