Tri-Valley Week 6 Preview

Can you believe we will be talking district play next week ?  We haven’t even seen cool temperatures yet .  What a week we have this week in the Tri-Valley league .  There will be some shake ups in the standings after this week .  There could just happen to be a shake up at the top of the standings but we will have to wait and see.

Neodesha 2-3 (2-2 league) @ Leon Bluestem 2-3 (2-3 league)

Both of these teams are coming off home league losses .  The Bluestreaks lost big to rival Cherryvale 49-14.  The good news for Neodesha is they haven’t had consecutive losses yet this season .  The numbers say they are due for a win this week .  They will want a healthy signal caller in Michael Shinkle for this game .   He is a huge part of their offense with 281 yards through the air and 224 yards on the ground so far .  On defense the Streaks need Trenton Adee and Randall Mckinnis to continue to play well to slow down the Lions from Leon Bluestem.  The Lions have scored 121 points in the last 4 contest and one of those they didn’t score any against Caney . I am predicting a very close ballgame in Leon with Neodesha pulling away in the fourth quarter to stay ahead of the Lions in the league standings.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Cherryvale 4-1 (4-1 League) vs. Caney Valley 4-1 (3-0 League)

Caney Valley has been rolling through the league like they were predicted to do .  Cherryvale has been getting better every week since the loss at Humboldt .  The Chargers have been cutting down the turnovers on offense and spreading the ball around to their different weapons.  To have any chance at winning this game the Chargers will need to sell out versus the run and make good tackles upon first contact . Easier said than done .  Grant Richey for the Bullpups has been tough running with a lot of power .  Caney Valley doesn’t beat themselves . Cherryvale will have to play a close to perfect game and make some big plays on both ends of the football.  I believe the Chargers have the play makers to accomplish something special Friday night .  I am hoping for a close ball game with someone winning on the last drive of the game . My prediction is Caney wins tight ballgame 26-20.

Humboldt 4-1 (4-1 League) @ Fredonia 3-2 (2-1 League)

Fredonia won an exciting double overtime game 55-49 in Leon last week for their second league victory .  Humboldt won big at Eureka 50-14. After speaking with coach Wyrick for the Cubs about this weeks game he said ” The Yellow Jackets have some talented skill players and we have to keep them bottled up and they will likely play an odd defensive front and that is something that we will have to prepare for as we haven’t seen much of that” .  The combo of Delvin Hendrix , Owen Blandamer , and Joe Reyes will keep the Cubs on their heels this Friday .  “Coach Svaty will have his kids ready to go on Friday , thats something we can be sure of ” Wyrick said.  If Humboldt runs the football like they can they should win this game and improve their league record before heading into district play .  I will go with a Cub victory 42-13 over the Yellow Jackets.

Erie 0-5 (0-5 League) @ Eureka 2-3 (0-3 League)

One of these teams will pick up a Tri-Valley victory this week .  The Red Devils just haven’t found much success this season . But you can believe that Coach Mahurin hasn’t stopped coaching these kids up .  They were blanked by league power Caney in the previous week 48-0.  For Erie to get their first victory this season they will be challenged from (in my opinion) the leagues best player Cash Parmes.  He played quarterback last week and played it very well .  He can throw the pigskin around and he can run with the best of them when he wants to .  Eureka has a pair of wide outs who can catch and make plays after the catch .  I think Eureka will pick up the league win with a 38-20 score.

Good Luck Tri-Valley teams in Week 6 .  I also hope every team can stay healthy going into district play .  See you at the games !!!!
