Thank you to the coaches who provided stats and quotes to us. A recap from Tuesday’s Three Rivers League basketball action:

GIRLS

Marmaton Valley def. Altoona 49-14

Chetopa def. Uniontown 52-22

  • Uniontown was led in scoring by Karleigh Schoenberger with 10 points and 4 rebounds

Jayhawk-Linn def. Osawatomie 40-39

Yates Center def. Colony-Crest 47-38

Oswego def. Northeast 53-46 (OT)

  • “What a win! Down 15 at one point in the 2nd half. Girls stuck with it and didn’t give up. Had to get on these pretty good at halftime. Wasn’t sure if they would respond or not. They did. Shailan Phillips had a breakout game for us. Glad to see her do well and gain some confidence. Our bench came up big tonight. Played these a bunch in 1st half when I wasn’t real happy with starters. Rachel Schenkeo hit some big shots in the 2nd half. Real proud of how the girls responded tonight.” – Oswego girls head coach Neal Cruse

St. Paul def. Pleasanton 38-32

Galena def. Southeast 62-25

BOYS

Marmaton Valley def. Altoona 58-25

Uniontown def. Chetopa 52-42

  • Uniontown’s Ben George had 28 points and 9 rebounds. Andrew Reed added 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Jayhawk-Linn def. Osawatomie 54-43

  • “I thought we played our best game of the year. Osawatomie is a very good team. We had some players step up in a big game. I am so proud of this group of kids. Brandon Gray led us with 26 points.” – Jayhawk-Linn boys head coach Barry Spitzenberger

Yates Center def. Colony-Crest 56-35

  • Yates Center was led in scoring by A. King with 21 points. Splechter added 12.
  • Crest’s H. Hermreck led all scorers with 23 points
  • “We competed tonight.  With as many turnovers as we had I felt good going into the half down by 5.  In the 3rd quarter Yates Center went to a box in one, and we weren’t very efficient offensively.  They did a good job of converting in transition and on the offensive boards and got separation.  We kept competing in the 4th, but against a team like that 16 points seems like a lot more than 16 points.” – Colony-Crest head coach Travis Hermreck

Northeast def. Oswego 76-30

St. Paul def. Pleasanton 50-44

Galena def. Southeast 61-28
