Thank you to the coaches who provided stats and quotes to us. A recap from Tuesday’s Tri-Valley League basketball action:
Leon-Bluestem def. Caney Valley 57-53
Erie def. Cherryvale 48-40
- Erie’s Aikins had 10 points and Dillinger added 10 points
- Cherryvale Senior Kylee Wagner led all scorers with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
- “We manged to get down by 15 early and had to spend the rest of the night fighting back. Half way thru the 3rd quarter we were within 5 and couldn’t seem to make the play that we needed to get closer. Finally in the 4th quarter we were down 4 and had a put back on a missed free throw, but they waived if off for a foul on the rebound. That was a 4 point swing that pout the game out of reach for us. I couldn’t ask my girls to play any harder and we gave ourselves a chance, we just couldn’t make the last couple of plays.” Cherryvale girls head coach David Smedley
BOYS
Caney Valley def. Leon-Bluestem 85-24
Cherryvale def. Erie 59-40
- Cherryvale was led in scoring by Senior Ryan Roberton with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
- “We played another really solid second half tonight. Our energy was tremendous. Clevenger is a really quick, tough guard and he torched us in the first half. I thought our guys adjusted well and made it much tougher for him to get the shots that he wanted later in the game, and that’s all effort. We’re happy to get off to a good start here in league play but we know there is much work to be done and are looking forward to getting back to practice and working hard tomorrow in preparation for Fredonia.” Cherryvale head coach Aaron Rehmert
